The UC Davis football team has been hard at work at its fall training camp for the past month, and will officially open the regular season with an away game at UC Berkeley Saturday (Aug. 31).

“We’ve continued to grow as a team and we are getting closer each day to finding out they type of team we are entering the season,” said head coach Tim Plough ’08, who is entering his first season as head coach.

Attendees will notice new seats this season in the Team Aggie sections (121-123) of UC Davis Health Stadium, plus new bartop seating in section 126.

Returning to home games this season will be Cori, the Labrador retriever owned by Veterinary Medicine Professor Lisa Tell ’87, DVM ’91. Cori is scheduled to retrieve kickoff tees at every home game except the Sept. 21 matchup; she did the same for some bats at baseball games, and Tell said some baseball players will help release Cori at football games this season.

Faculty, staff and students can purchase parking through AggiePark and the Amp Park app on game day, while visitors to campus can purchase discounted parking ahead of time on the Transportation Services website.

Discounted tickets for first home game

The CLEAR Center is sponsoring the Sept. 7 matchup between UC Davis and Texas A&M-Commerce in UC Davis’ first Salute to Ag football game. The home opener will honor farmers, ranchers, workers and allied industry members.

“What a great night it will be when we sponsor the Aggies’ first home game, treat students, alums and families to specially priced tickets, and put our incredible agriculture industry in the spotlight,” said Frank Mitloehner, an animal agriculturalist, air quality specialist and director of the CLEAR Center. “Farming and ranching in California are among the best in the United States, if not the world. The growers and all the partners who make their work possible are showing what can be done when we come together to make the essential undertaking more sustainable.”

For discounted game tickets, go to goagspromo.com and enter promo code CLEAR. There are the three price levels, each of which is approximately 50% off as a result of the sponsorship:

  • General admission: $7 (normally $15)
  • East side: $10 (normally $20)
  • West side: $18 (normally $35)
