FOOD, TOY DRIVES FOR THE HOLIDAYS

With the holidays fast approaching, the UC Davis community is once again being asked for food and toy donations for the less fortunate. Here are three ways to help:

Mail Services Food Drive—Leave canned food and dry goods next to your outgoing mail on the Davis and Sacramento campuses. Mail personnel will pick up the donations Nov. 17 to 21. Davis Campus donations go to the Yolo County Food Bank; Sacramento Campus donations go to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.

Bookstore Canned Food Drive—Main store only, on the Davis Campus, through Nov. 21. Donors receive a coupon good for 25 percent off any nonimprinted gift item. Donations go to STEAC, the Short-Term Emergency Aid Committee of Yolo County.

Toys for Tots

Several Davis Campus units are promoting Toys for Tots, in conjunction with the Marine Corps League, Yolo County Detachment 627. The Marine Corps League is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for ages infant through 13.

The ASUCD Coffee House and Delta Chi fraternity are working together; their Toys for Tots collection spot is next to the piano in the CoHo’s main dining room. The collection runs through Dec. 5, just before finals and the student exodus for the holidays.

The Office of Administration's Toys for Tots drive runs nearly two weeks longer, through Dec. 17. The OOA  has set up 11 collection stations on and off the main campus:

On-campus:

• Human Resources Administration Building, Orchard Road just west of La Rue Road
• Memorial Union, north side near Freeborn Plaza
• Memorial Union, east side between the automated teller machines and the bookstore
• Office of Administration, 436 Mrak Hall
• Police-Fire Building, Kleiber Hall Drive
• Repro Graphics, 176 Hoagland Hall
• Transportation and Parking Services, north of the west entry garage
• University Club, Old Davis Road

Off-campus:

• Accounting and Financial Services, 1441 Research Park Drive, Davis
• Repro Graphics, 3820 Chiles Road. Davis
• Safety Services, 276 Hoagland Hall

In addition, while making deliveries and pickups, Repro Graphics personnel will be happy to pick up donations.

For more information on the Office of Administration Toys for Tots drive, contact Larisa Archer, (530) 752-3945 or lsarcher@ucdavis.edu.

People in the Health Sciences District will find a Toys for Tots collection barrel in the Large Animal Clinic at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

A Marine Corps League spokesman said all Davis Campus donations, like all other toys that are collected in Yolo County, will stay in Yolo County.
