EXHIBITIONS: Alum Stacey White shows new oil-on-wood paintings

NEW THIS WEEK: UC Davis alumna Stacey White is showing new paintings, oil on wood, in an exhibition at the Craft Center Gallery in the south Silo. A closing reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4. The gallery's summer hours: 12:30-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 12:30-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

Attic to Archives: Bringing Historical Collections to Light Showing how archivists turn assorted, musty papers into an organized set of documents readily available to researchers. Black Market Type & Print Shop and Routines, plus Selected 20th-Century Posters — The Black Market Type & Print Shop offers visitors the opportunity to work with more than 30 type fonts copied from the artwork of internationally known artists. These letterforms have been scanned and converted into computer fonts, and the public can use them for free. Also, Danish artist Mads Lynnerup’s Routines, based on the four weeks he spent observing people and their routines in the area around Sønder Boulevard, a central street in Copenhagen. Using his notes and drawings, he produced 10 posters and a video of the different routines that he discovered in the neighborhood. Through Aug. 14, Nelson Gallery, 124 Art Building. Also, in conjunction with these two poster-based projects, the Nelson is showing a selection of the gallery’s holdings of 20th-century placards, through Sept. 6, in the Entryway Gallery, 125 Art Building. 25 Stories from the Central Valley Photos documenting women’s struggles for environmental justice. Through Aug. 23, Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, Mrak Hall Drive and Old Davis Road. Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
