ARBORETUM PLANT FAIRE OPENS IN NEW TEACHING NURSERY -- Oct. 4 (Saturday) -- The best plants and techniques for Valley-wise gardening will be showcased at the 34th annual Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum Plant Faire, as the arboretum celebrates the grand opening of its new teaching nursery. The annual plant sale will be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a preview sale for arboretum members only from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The new teaching nursery is located on Garrod Drive, east of the William R. SPEAKER: COMPARING FUTURES FOR THE SACRAMENTO-SAN JOAQUIN DELTA -- Oct. 9 (Thursday) -- Engineering professor Jay Lund reviews the long-term problems of the delta and a formal analysis of alternative strategies for managing delta water exports. Lund will summarize a recent multidisciplinary research report by UC Davis in cooperation with the Public Policy Institute of California.
