UC Davis recently honored its 91 faculty members who hold endowed chairs and professorships. During the April 5 dinner event in Freeborn Hall, Claire Pomeroy, vice chancellor for human health sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, left, made a presentation to Karen Charney, executive director of the Rumsey Community Fund, honoring the fund for its support of UC Davis. The Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, which owns and operates Cache Creek Casino Resort in Brooks, Yolo County, established the fund in 2000. Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw spoke at the dinner, as did Michael Chapman, chairman of the board of trustees of the UC Davis Foundation. The university and foundation recognized 13 faculty members newly appointed to endowed chairs and professorships, and four endowments established in the last year. "Tonight, UC Davis honors the distinguished faculty who hold its endowed chairs and professorships, recognizing as well the vision and generosity of those who have established these important funds," the dinner program stated.
