AN EMPHASIS ON UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ...

Senior psychology major Evelyn Teran, left, presents her team undergraduate research project to Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Yvonne Marsh April 24 during the 15th annual Undergraduate Research Conference. More than 180 students presented work to the public -- orally and in poster format -- in Wellman and Freeborn Halls. The conference, one of the few in the UC system, is meant to encourage the development of research on all levels and across the disciplines. Teran and team members Lindsay Smith and Amelia Rodriguez researched the level of involvement of Latino parents in their children's elementary school. Other students presented such projects as "Entrainment of Rhesus Monkeys to the Martian Day" and "Random Walks with Tired Drunks." Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef delivered the keynote address during the event, presented by the offices of the provost and vice chancellor for student affairs. — By Mike Sintetos
