ELSBACH RECEIVES GSM ENDOWED CHAIR IN LEADERSHIP

Professor Kim Elsbach of the Graduate School of Management has been named the inaugural holder of the Stephen G. Newberry Endowed Chair in Leadership.

“Kim is a globally visible scholar in the areas of organizational behavior, symbolic processes in organizations, and organizational-individual reputations,” Dean Steven Currall said.

Elsbach has served as editor of Qualitative Organizational Research, senior editor of Organization Science and guest editor of the Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Review.

Newberry is president and chief executive officer of Fremont-based Lam Research Corp., a leading supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services to the semiconductor industry.

He and his wife, Shelley, gave $1 million for the endowed chair and $500,000 to create a fellowship in support of Master’s of Business Administration students who have great potential as business leaders.

Six new endowments bring the university's total count to 120, all of which were celebrated at the annual Endowed Chairs and Professorships Dinner.
