Former presidential candidate John Edwards, left, spoke last week at Mondavi Center, describing poverty as "the great moral issue facing America today" while also urging the Bush Administration to withdraw troops from Iraq. A former U.S. Senator from North Carolina, Edwards was the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate in 2004. Currently he is serving as the director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at the University of North California. Social sciences dean Steven M.
