"Cosumnes: A River's Song," a 60-minute documentary co-produced by public television KVIE Channel 6 and UC Davis, airs Thursday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m.

The program documents the findings of UC Davis geologist Jeff Mount and his research team as they search for a better understanding of how the Cosumnes River can serve its community and maintain its ecology.

"The Cosumnes is the only river in the state without a major dam restraining its flow and that makes it a valuable living laboratory for those looking at how we manage our waterways, and how we can sustain wild habitat and serve the needs of a growing state," Mount said.
