Corporate execs to talk about leadership

The College of Letters and Science Speakers Series is set to continue next week with a panel discussion featuring three UC Davis alumni who have become executives of large corporations. The event is set to begin at 4:10 p.m. April 18 at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. Admission is free and open to the public.

A news release states that the executives will speak about current issues in corporate leadership and finance, providing advice to students who are considering management careers.

The panelists: Darryl Goss, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Esoterix Inc.; Blair Lambert, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Gymboree Corp.; and Stephen Richards, an investor who most recently served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of McAfee Inc.

"What is striking is how their differing undergraduate experiences led to the same career path," said Steven M. Sheffrin, dean of the Division of Social Sciences. "This is an important lesson about the value of a liberal arts education."
