Lines of walkers will soon be winding their way across campus to the Mondavi Center for the campus's traditional year-launching gathering.
The Fall Convocation will summon faculty, staff and students to Jackson Hall of the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to noon.
"The convocation is a chance for the UC Davis family to gather as just that - a family of new and returning members who will experience and accomplish much together this year," said Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef. "It is always such a nice way to start the new year together, to inspire our personal and collective best, and to remind ourselves that we are a community of individuals with much to offer one another."
Titled "Crossing Boundaries Imagined and Real," the convocation will feature Education Abroad student Kalen Ridenour; Mohammad Mohanna, a UC Davis Foundation Board trustee and member of last spring's UC Davis delegation to Iran; and Chancellor Vanderhoef.
Academic Senate Chair Daniel Simmons will offer welcoming remarks on behalf of the faculty and Judy Sakaki, vice chancellor for student affairs, will serve as master of ceremonies.
A cookies-and-punch reception will immediately follow outside Mondavi Center.
