Conference on California Wildfires is Oct. 10-12

On the 10th anniversary of the devastating East Bay Hills fire, UC Davis University Extension will co-sponsor a conference in Oakland on preventing similar fires at the urban-wildland interface. "California's 2001 Wildfire Conference and Public Events" will share the latest research on minimizing losses in California's urban-wildland interface. Conference organizers hope to help the public adopt fire-safe behaviors and to promote interagency cooperation and long-term planning. Conference co-sponsors include the Hills Emergency Forum, numerous University of California units, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and others.
