The Hutchison Child Development Center is inviting parents in the campus community to accompany their children to story time with author Robert Leighton, a professor emeritus of veterinary surgery in the School of Veterinary of Medicine.

Organizers said the 92-year-old Leighton will read from his new book, Dog Stories for Spencer, written for his grandson.

The free event is scheduled from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 8. Copies of the book, which features illustrations designed for coloring, will be available for sale.

The Hutchison Child Development Center is at 1055 Extension Center Circle, off Hutchison Drive, behind the Rec Pool Lodge.
