Presented by ABIDE: Association for Body Image Disordered Eating. This year’s awareness week includes an essay contest, asking for one-page expressions of “Loving Your Body Appreciations..” Submissions are due by Feb. 15. The week also includes the following events, all open to the public.
Feb. 23
• Noon-1 p.m. — Challenging the “White Ideal”: A Celebration of Diverse Beauty. Informal, brown bag discussion. Free, Cross-Cultural Center.
• 6-7 p.m. — How to Help a Loved One, with Jennifer Lombardi, an eating disorders and body image specialist. Free. Meeting Room 1, Activities and Recreation Center.
Feb. 24
• 5-6 p.m. — Wellness Wednesday: “Mindful Eating.” Free. Meeting Room 3, ARC.
• 8:30 p..m. (doors open at 8) — Beauty Mark, documentary, “for anyone who has ever felt invisible because they didn’t conform to our culture’s impossible, unhealthy, abnormal beauty standards.” Discussion follows the film. Free. 194 Chemistry Building.
Feb. 25
• Noon-1 p.m. — Demystifying Body Image for All Bodies. A collaboration of Intersex Awareness Week and Celebrate Your Body Week. Free. Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center.
Feb. 26
• Noon-1 p.m. — Love Your Body Yoga. ARC membership required. GX Studio, ARC.
