Canceled: Inequality in Education Topic of Lecture

Jan. 24, Monday -- Inequality in education and reforms that can reduce disparities will be the topic of a lecture when UCLA Professor Jeannie Oakes speaks at UC Davis. Oakes will present "Just Schools: Social Inquiry and Social Action." She is UCLA's Presidential Professor in Educational Equity and director of both UCLA's Institute for Democracy, Education and Access and UC's All Campus Consortium on Research for Diversity (ACCORD). Her research examines inequalities in U.S. schools and follows the progress of reforms. Oakes is the author of 17 books and more than 100 published reports and articles. The lecture will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Alpha Gamma Rho Hall of the Alumni and Visitors Center.
