Business, Science of Wine-making Focus of Seminar

March 6 to 10, Sunday to Thursday -- Topics ranging from the frenzied consolidation of the wine industry to Pierce's disease will be examined during UC Davis' annual Wine Executive Program on the business and science of wine-making in Sacramento. The program, presented by the university's Graduate School of Management and its Department of Viticulture and Enology, draws middle and senior managers from the wine industry. Sessions open to the media are wine economist Robert Smiley's global perspective, 8 a.m., March 7; vineyard challenges with James Wolpert and Linda Bisson of viticulture and enology, 10:15 a.m., March 9; and strategic cost management with Robert Yetmen of the management school, 1:30 p.m., March 9.
