Business plan competition to award $15,000

* May 15, Thursday -- The five start-up ventures that are finalists in a business plan competition organized by UC Davis MBA students will present their plans, and the three winners of a total of $15,000 in prize money will be announced at an awards ceremony on campus. Finalists in the Big Bang! Business Plan competition are Davis BioPharma, Inventra and SialoGen Therapeutics, all from Davis; Solid Oxide Systems of Livermore; and Applied Microsensors of Oakland. High-profile venture capital and professional firms from Sacramento and Bay Area are sponsors of the competition, and their representatives are participating as judges and mentors. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. Members of the public who want to attend should e-mail develop@gsm.ucdavis.edu by Monday, May 12.
