Open enrollment deadline

Less than a week remains in this year's open enrollment period. The deadline is midnight Nov. 21. During open enrollment, employees may add eligible family members to medical and dental plans, and transfer to different plans. Employees may de-enroll from medical, dental and vision plans, and enroll or re-enroll in the Dependent Care Assistance Program (DepCare), the Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA), and change participation in the Tax Savings on Insurance Premiums program. The legal plan is not open for new enrollments this year.

More information, including all health plan premium rates, is available at atyourservice.ucop.edu. This is the Web site where employees can make open enrollment changes.

Fire Department grant

The UC Davis Fire Department has received $42,500 in federal money to put data computers in every firetruck as well as the Fire Department vehicles assigned to the assistant fire chief and the on-duty chief. The goal, said Assistant Chief Wes Arvin, is to give firefighters easier and quicker access to chemical inventories and emergency plans for hazardous materials incidents. The money is part of a Department of Homeland Security grant of $193,680, split among UC Davis and the fire departments in the nearby cities of Davis, Dixon, Woodland and West Sacramento.
