BLISSFUL BOOK

Campus Community Book Project author Eric Weiner signs a copy of The Geography of Bliss for Diana Rudametkin de Aguilar during a reception in advance of Weiner’s talk the night of Dec. 1 at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Rudametkin de Aguilar is a medical interpreter at the UC Davis Medical Center; she attended the reception with her husband, Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, professor of internal medicine and director of the Center for Reducing Health Disparities. Professor Aguilar-Gaxiola presented one of the first programs in connection with this year’s book project, an Oct. 20 discussion of “Blissful Thinking: From Disorders to Well-Being.” More than 1,000 people attended Weiner’s talk about his book, the full title of which is The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World. About 100 people attended an earlier, free Forum@MC, during which Weiner addressed the question, “Why Are Republicans So Happy.”
