April 22, Wednesday, 10 a.m. -- UC Davis Police Chief Annette Spicuzza will formally open the UC Davis Police Department's new substation in Shields Library. The event will take place in the Nelly Branch reading room in the north-east corner of the second floor of the library. The substation will be the base for the department's new bicycle officer, Ralph Nuno, who was recently appointed to work full-time on bicycle issues on central campus. Nuno, who will patrol the central campus by bicycle, will work to encourage better cycling behavior through training and outreach as well as enforcement. The new office will also act as an additional security presence for Shields Library.
