THE ARTS: Creativity Project, Ball in the House

CREATIVITY PROJECT: What is David Harrington listening to? The violinist and founder of the Kronos Quartet is due to visit the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 29 to answer that question, in a free Forum@MC at 4 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

Harrington's participation in the forum is under the auspices of the Mondavi Center's new Creativity Project.

The Mondavi Center Web site invites people to listen in as Harrington "shares the music he finds most influential today."

The Web site further describes the forum as "a rare personal tour of the taste and aesthetics underlying one of contemporary music's most dynamic quartets."

On April 18, the Kronos Quartet is scheduled to perform a Creativity Project concert featuring works by composers under the age of 30, commissioned by the quartet for its Under 30 Project. The concert is set for 8 p.m. in Jackson Hall.

Tickets: (530) 754-2787 or (866) 754-2787, or www.mondaviarts.org.

BALL IN THE HOUSE: Ball in the House, a five-man pop and rhythm-and-blues "mouth music" band is scheduled to present a school matinee at the Mondavi Center on Nov. 30.

The Boston-based a cappella group has performed at the Kennedy Center and the Apollo Theater in Harlem, and at several international festivals.

"Ball in the House produces vocal music like you've never heard before, anchored by a 'human drum machine,'" according to the Mondavi Center Web site.

The concert, recommended for kindergarten through 12th-grade students, is set to start at 11 a.m. in Jackson Hall. Educators and others interested in purchasing matinee tickets should call (530) 754-4689.
