Craft Center sign-ups
Staff, faculty and the community can start signing up Jan. 5 for the Craft Center's winter quarter programs. (Priority registration for students is he day before.)
General registration (for staff, faculty and the community) can be arranged in person, or by phone or mail.

• If you are registering by phone, call (530) 752-1475 and be prepared to pay by VISA or Mastercard.
• M ail-in registration requires VISA or Mastercard.
“The Craft Center is the perfect place to develop your creative skills,” reads an e-mail announcement. “We provide a comfortable atmosphere that encourages beginners as well as more experienced crafters.”
The center features 10 fully equipped studios for different media: ceramics, woodworking, screenprinting, glass, flameworking, jewelry, welding, photography, textiles (sewing, weaving and dyeing), and arts and crafts.
Each quarter the center offers more than 90 classes ranging from one-day workshops to seven-week courses.

Willow weaving workshop
The C.N. Gorman Museum announced a Jan. 23 willow weaving workshop with Julia and Lucy Parker. Sign-ups are set to begin Jan. 4, via e-mail to cngorman@ucdavis.edu.
Auditions for The Seagull
Auditions are scheduled Jan. 4 for a UC Davis production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, to be directed by Katya Kamotskaia, winter quarter Granada artist in residence in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Kamatoskaia has taught at the State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
The auditions, set to begin at 6 p.m. in Main Theatre, are open to UC Davis students, faculty and staff. If you plan to audition, you must schedule a time; sign-up sheets can be found in 101 Art Building.
Also, if you are planning to audition, you are advised to prepare a Chekhov monologue of your choice and to be prepared to read from The Seagull.
The production is set for 8 p.m. March 10 to 13 and 2 p.m. March 14.
