Open auditions for 2 works

The Department of Theatre and Dance announced open auditions — for students, staff amd faculty — for the performance pieces that are to be created this quarter by a pair of Granada artists-in-residence: Guillermo Peña-Gomez and Sara Shelton Mann.

Auditions for Peña-Gomez’s work, Corpo/Illicito: The Post-Human Society 6.9, are scheduled from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 5 in Main Theatre.

Auditions for Mann’s work, Tribes: the unified field, are scheduled from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 12 at the University Club.

The works are due to be presented together, in five shows: 8 p.m. Nov. 18-21, and 2 p.m. Nov. 22, all in Main Theatre.

Elephant’s Graveyard

Elephant’s Graveyard, a new play exploring the ways we deal with our elderly, and our fears of old age and dying, is set to open Oct. 23 in the Vanderhoef Studio Theatre at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Jade Rosina McCutcheon, assistant professor, Department of Theatre and Dance, is the writer and director.

Elephant’s Graveyard is a production of Sideshow Physical Theatre, resident performing company at the Mondavi Center and resident professional company in the Department of Theatre and Dance. The play features music by graduate student Garrett Shatzer and faculty composer Laurie San Martin.

Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 23-24 and 30-31, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
