Arrest after firearms discharge

UC Davis police officers arrested a student Wednesday afternoon (June 5) after he allegedly fired a gun in his apartment at the West Village housing complex on campus. No one was reported injured in the incident.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot about 1 P.M. and arrested Zachary Griffiths at his apartment. Neighbors canvassed by police reported hearing only one shot. The discharge appeared to be accidental.

Griffiths was arrested and transported to Yolo County Jail pending charges. Possession of a firearm on a university campus is prohibited by state law.
