Springtime is in the air, and at the UC Davis Arboretum that means the first plant sale of the year is not far off.

It is set for March 15 in two segments: 9 a.m. to noon for members only, and noon to 4 p.m. for members and anyone else. Not a member but want to be an earlybird? No problem. Simply sign up or renew your membership at the gate.

Every member receives a free plant and a 10 percent discount on purchases. And everyone is welcome to expert garden advice.

The day's program also includes children's activities, refreshments and live music.

Location is the arboretum nursery at Orchard Park, with free parking in the adjacent Lot 35 at the southwest corner of Orchard and La Rue roads.
