Arboretum combines plant sale and Roberts retirement reception

News
Warren Roberts at an arboretum plant sale
Arboretum Superintendent Warren Roberts is one of the plant experts on duty at arboretum plant sales.

The Oct. 17 plant sale at the Arboretum Teaching Nursery is special for two reasons: It is the second plant sale of the fall, when normally there is only one, and it is doubling as a reception for arboretum Superintendent Warren Roberts, who is retiring after 37 years with the arboretum. As for the sale, it will feature a group of “Warren’s Favorites,” great for home landscapes. As at the first plant sale of the fall, members of Friends of the UC Davis Arboretum and the Davis Botanical Society receive a 10 percent discount, and every new member receives a free plant. The sale and reception are scheduled from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. The nursery is on Garrod Drive south of La Rue Road (tThe nursery is just beyond the Unitrans bus yard and across from the School of Veterinary Medicine). Parking is free.
