Antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan to speak

Cindy Sheehan will speak on campus at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. Her talk takes place in Freeborn Hall.

When her son, Casey, was killed in Iraq, Sheehan started to rally against the war. She started protesting in her hometown of Vacaville, and eventually camped out in front of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, demanding that he speak with her, sparking a national debate.

Since then, Sheehan has continued to speak out against the war and the Bush administration's policies. She founded Gold Star Families for Peace — the proceeds from her UC Davis speech will go to this group.

Tickets are on sale at the Freeborn box office (752-1915), www.tickets.com, or at the door. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students.

Event sponsors include the Unitarian Universalist Campus Ministry, the Women's Resources and Research Center, and the Davis Peace Coalition, among others.
