Aggies host Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State — and ESPN!

The Aggie men’s basketball team (10-3 in preseason) open Big West Conference play with two home games this week: 7 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 7) against Cal State Northridge and 8 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 10) in a national TV game on ESPNU against Long Beach State.

The TV game will mark the third time in three years ESPN has presented a men’s game from The Pavilion. The Aggies drew a sellout crowd for the first one (in the 2012-13 season) and a near-sellout crowd for the second.

Head coach Jim Les is hoping for another big crowd on Jan. 10 "to show the country what makes this university and program special.”

Doors will open at 7 p.m. Athletics officials are urging fans to purchase tickets early or risk losing out if the game sells out, and to wear white to match the Aggie uniforms. Students not only get in free, with valid UC Davis ID, but they’ll have a shot at receiving one of more than 1,500 white T-shirts to be given away.

Everyone will have a chance to win a UC Davis-model fixie courtesy of alumni-run City Bicycle Co.; enter via Instagram by posting a photo with the hashtag #citybicycleco and the tag @ucdavisaggies. (For your other social media posts, please use #AggiESPN and #BigWestQuest.)

Tickets: Online, by phone, (530) 752-AGS1 (2471), or in person at the ticket office at Aggie Stadium.
