Quick Summary
- Suspects ram gates to enter and exit maintenance yards
- Power and Lights yard on Garrod Drive among the targets
- Still missing: 2 pickups belonging to a university employee
Investigation by UC Davis police continues into a series of burglaries Saturday (Nov. 27) resulting in the theft of three vehicles along with tools and other industrial equipment from campus facilities west of Highway 113.
No arrests had been made, though officers recovered one of the stolen vehicles — a truck with a bucket lift — found that night at UC Davis West Village. Police have a description of a suspect and believe others were involved.
The Facilities Management truck with the bucket lift was stolen from the Power and Lights maintenance yard at 2145 Garrod Drive after someone rammed open a gate around 6 a.m.
Just after 10 a.m., officers received a report that an air compressor had been stolen from a building on Campbell Road between Garrod Drive and Hutchison Drive. Police said someone rammed a gate to get into the yard, then broke into the building.
Shortly afterward, officers took a burglary call from 154 Hills Drive where someone stole tools and welding equipment from a building, and two pickups — one with a dump trailer — owned by a university employee. The suspects exited by ramming through a gate.
Additionally, police reported that sometime between Wednesday (Nov. 24) and today (Nov. 30), a UC Davis-owned Ford truck was stolen and a trailer broken into at 1360 Garrod Drive, near the Equestrian Center.
One suspect is described as a white male, standing about 5-foot-8 and weighing 180 pounds, wearing an orange-and-black ballcap and yellow work gloves, gray jeans, black sweatshirt and black-and-white shoes.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the UC Davis Police Department, 530-752-1727.
