The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is featuring the first major survey of Annabeth Rosen’s work – including 80 ceramic sculptures and 45 drawings/paintings, nearly all created since she arrived at UC Davis 20 years ago.

She is currently co-chair of the art and art history department and holds the Robert Arneson Endowed Chair.

Annabeth Rosen: Fired, Broken, Gathered, Heaped chronicles over 20 years of her work in ceramics. The exhibition will also feature works on paper that mirror the trajectory of her works created in clay. The show has been featured in Art in America, Art Forum and Sculpture magazines.

The show, on view through Nov. 26, began in August, right before hurricanes Harvey and Irma drenched the south. But, the museum and the was safe and the museum is open. She said that while the area near the museums suffered hard rains, there was no flooding that affected buildings. She wrote in an email: “The outlying areas of the city, and areas near the bayous suffered the most severe damage, and those people’s lives will be changed forever more. Most of the city was closed down, the airports were closed as well for a couple of days when the hurricane hit hardest.”
