UC Davis Shuttle Bus in Accident, Some Passengers Injured

A shuttle bus carrying passengers from the UC Davis campus to the UC Davis Medical Center Sacramento campus overturned this morning (Thursday, Nov. 30) on U.S. Highway 50 in West Sacramento.

Details are still being gathered at this time. The accident occurred between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. on eastbound Highway 50 at Jefferson Boulevard.

Apparently only the shuttle bus was involved in the accident, in which the bus collided with a guardrail in the center median. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

About 22 to 25 passengers received minor injuries, such as bruises and possible neck injuries, and have been taken to area hospitals.

The passengers included students, staff and faculty, and possibly medical center volunteers and patients.
