Subhash Risbud, a professor of chemical engineering and materials science, assumed his duties as faculty director of the Internship and Career Center last month, succeeding psychology professor Albert Harrison, who has retired. The half-time appointment has a three-year term.
As faculty director, Risbud will establish priorities and future directions and be responsible for the overall administration of the center, which provides campuswide advising and placement services in the areas of experiential learning and career development. The center serves undergraduate, graduate and professional students as well as postdoctoral fellows and alumni. The director reports to the vice provost for undergraduate studies and works closely with Student Affairs.
Risbud, who was named a distinguished professor in July, has taught at UC Davis since 1990 and is also a visiting professor at Stanford University.
The center has about 65 staff members (about 24 FTE). In 2003-04, it helped make 6,154 internship placements.
