Most recently he served as a legislative director in UC's Office of State Government Relations where he provided legislative analysis and advocacy on a number of high profile issues. Engelbach has also worked in leadership positions at the California Postsecondary Education Commission, where among other duties, he managed federally funded grant programs and represented the Commission in Washington, D.C., on federal regulatory, legislative and programmatic issues.

"Karl brings a hands-on understanding of the UC, its structure, processes, and governmental relations operations and functions," said Marjorie Dickinson, assistant vice chancellor for Government and Community Relations.

Engelbach earned a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA from UC Davis.
