SUSTAINABILITY ON THE FARM, WEED DAY AND GRAPE GROWING

Here are details on two agricultural field days and the first National Viticulture Research Conference at UC Davis:

  • Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems Field Day -- June 22. Organizers said this year's event, the 19th annual, will highlight research results at Muller and Sons Farm, Woodland.   • National Viticulture Research Conference -- July 18-20. For scientists and students from private and public organizations and universities. Organizers said the conference will highlight current research in fields related to grape growing. Topic areas: crop improvement, cultural practices and physiology, and pests and diseases. Sponsored by UC Davis' College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and coordinated by representatives of the UC Davis' departments of Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Viticulture and Enology, as well as the Foundation Plant Services unit and the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science; along with the UC Agriculture and Natural Resources division and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.   • Weed Day -- July 19. Organizers said the morning session will include a field tour of research plots, and the afternoon session will include a presentation of projects not in-season for viewing.
