SEMINARS AND COLLOQUIA: Four brown bags to address global health center; Postharvest short course's 30th gala

FOUR BROWN BAGS TO ADDRESS GLOBAL HEALTH CENTER: Faculty from all disciplines who have an interest in global health are invited to attend one of four brown bag lunches focused on describing a proposed UC-wide School of Global Health.

The school would comprise centers of excellence around the UC system, and the forthcoming brown bags at UC Davis are intended to lay the groundwork for establishing such a center as an interdisciplinary unit on this campus, said Professor Michael Wilkes, director of Global Health Programs in the School of Medicine, who is coordinating the meetings. They are scheduled as follows, all starting at noon:

June 13 -- 1003-1007 Kemper Hall

July 14 -- 203 Mrak Hall

July 23 -- Vet Med 3A, room to be determined

Aug. 5 -- UC Davis Medical Center, room to be determined

POSTHARVEST SHORT COURSE'S 30TH GALA: The Postharvest Technology Research and Information Center is presenting its 30th annual Postharvest Technology Short Course, June 16-27, and in the middle of that program, the center plans a 30th anniversary celebration and symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 in the Activities and Recreation Center Ballroom.

Yet another special program is planned the night of June 21: a retirement dinner for Adel Kader, with 30 years of service at UC Davis, and who was responsible for organizing the Postharvest Technology Short Course for many years.
