Salman Rushdie to speak at Mondavi

Salman Rushdie will appear at the Mondavi Center at 8 p.m. March 15.

A renowned writer and perceptive witness to international politics, Rushdie is best-known as the author of the acclaimed 1989 novel, The Satanic Verses, which led to death threats by Iranian Islamic extremists.

Born in Bombay on the eve of Indian independence, educated at Cambridge and now resident in Manhattan, Rushdie has written extensively on the geographic, political and spiritual issues that mark our world. He is the author of several non-fiction works and eight novels.

Rushdie's lecture is part of the Mondavi Center's Distinguished Speakers Series.
