Nominations sought for senate awards

The Davis Division of the Academic Senate has called upon its members to nominate their colleagues for the 2009-10 Distinguished Scholarly Public Service awards and the Faculty Research Lecture Award.

Distinguished Scholarly Public Service—Up to four awards can be given annually to people who have not previously received the award. As described in the call for nominations, “For purposes of this award, distinguished scholarly public service is the unpaid, focused and sustained direct extension of a faculty member’s disciplinary or technical expertise to the public and nonprofit sector"

Faculty Research Lecture Award—This award, the senate's highest honor, recognizes distinction in scholarly research, chiefly for efforts carried out while a member of the Davis faculty. Candidates should have been at Davis for at least 10 years. Each faculty member may nominate or endorse one potential candidate.

The nomination deadlines are 5 p.m. Nov. 30 for the Distinguished Public Service awards and 5 p.m. Dec. 4 for the Faculty Research Lecture Award.

Nominations in either category should be submitted electronically to Bryan Rodman, bdrodman@ucdavis.edu, with one of the following subject lines: DSPSA 2010 Nomination: (Name of Nominator) for (name of nominee), or FRL 2010 Nomination: (Name of Nominator) for (name of nominee).
