The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is the place to be Friday (Oct. 26), even if you're not attending the Eddie Izzard comedy show.

Outside, before the Izzard show, everyone is invited to a concert — an ensemble performance by the Harley White Jr. Orchestra, a Sacramento group known for its jazz and blues.

The Izzard show at 8 p.m. requires tickets, if you can get them (see below); the concert is free, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Corin Courtyard at the Mondavi Center's northeast corner.

This is the courtyard that is becoming a south campus social hub, as the venue for the Corin Courtyard Concerts and as the home of the new Fusion Fresh Café.

The mobile cafe sets up shop Monday through Friday, early morning to late afternoon, and during the Corin Courtyard Concerts. A cash bar will be set up for some of the concerts.

The Corin Courtyard Concerts, featuring musicians from around Northern California, began Sept. 28 with Davis' West Nile Ramblers. Six more concerts are on the schedule through May (each event lasts for one hour):

  • Friday, Oct. 26 — Harley White Jr. Orchestra (ensemble performance). 6:30 p.m. (prior to Eddie Izzard comedy).
  • Sunday, Nov. 4 — Julie and the Jukes. 5:30 p.m. (prior to B.B. King concert).
  • Tuesday, March 19 — Mondavi Center SFJAZZ High School All-Stars and the Capital Jazz Project. 6:30 p.m. (prior to Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis).
  • Friday, April 12 — Ukulele Play-Along! 6:30 p.m. (prior to the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain).
  • Saturday, April 18 — Richie Lawrence and The Yolos. 6:30 p.m. (prior to In Conversation with Ira Glass, moderated by Daniel Handler).
  • Sunday, May 19 — Kids in the Courtyard! 1:30 p.m. (prior to Lara Downes Family Concert).

The outdoor concerts are free; tickets required for the programs inside the Mondavi Center. Tickets: mondaviarts.org, or (530) 754-2787 or (800) 754-2787. As of midweek, tickets were limited in availability for the Izzard show; contact the box office for more information.
