Minear to lead health system tech

Michael Minear, an executive with a background as a leader in health care information technology, has been appointed as the chief information officer for UC Davis Health System.

Most recently an associate faculty member in health management information systems in the Bloomberg Graduate School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, Minear also previously worked as senior vice president and CIO at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was selected for the UC Davis position after an extensive nationwide search.

In his new position, Minear will oversee an annual operating budget of about $50 million and an annual capital budget in excess of $10 million. He will be responsible for about 500 staff employees, including managers, programmers, analysts and support staff.

Minear's salary is $310,000.
