Dear Editor:

Last week's dedication of the Genome and Biomedical Sciences Facility would have been perfect but for one regrettable slip of the pencil. That slip led to my overlooking the School of Medicine as an important financial partner in this path-breaking, multi-disciplinary research building.

The School of Medicine, along with the Whitaker Foundation and the "Garamendi" funding mechanism, is helping to make this building a reality.

The school's faculty and administrators join in the vision to create new science and to foster education and research and, I know, are proud to be part of this initiative. I'm sorry to have missed the opportunity last week to call attention to their fuller partnership, and I take the opportunity to do so now.
