Soda change eyed

The replacement of all the soda machines on campus has been wonderful for me (Dateline letters, March 12 and April 2). Since it was done I have not bought a single soda that way, and I'm quite sure I'm that much healthier for it. I note, by the way, that fully one-third of the discarded soda bottles on campus are at least a quarter full -- suggesting that many people are willing to pay substantially more, but don't want the additional amount of product. All of this may offer potential research material for economics and psychology grad students.
