This fall, the law school launched a celebratory campaign to commemorate the founding of the UC Davis School of Law. The law school was established on the Davis campus in 1965.
Today, the School of Law is listed among the top public law schools in the country. In addition, the school is ranked as one of the best schools for minorities, with 35 percent minority students and 25 percent minority faculty.
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the School of Law recently unveiled a new logo design as part of an innovative new graphic identity system that more effectively utilizes advances in technology and reflects the law school's core components of rigorous legal scholarship, excellence in education and dedication to fostering a cooperative and supportive student atmosphere.
The law school chose for its logo a book radiating light to symbolize the importance of legal scholarship throughout the world.
"Knowledge of legal scholarship is a powerful and vital part of the political, economic, and social fabric of the world," said Dean Perschbacher in a statement. "Legal scholarship sustains and builds communities, unites individuals, and challenges and supports governments."
The logo was officially launched on the law school's new Web site at www.law.ucdavis.edu. The site includes a complete re-design, new navigation and more interactive content. Legal news and events relevant to the community and nation are regularly posted, as well as commentary from faculty, students, staff and alumni.
Law school commemorative activities will continue through 2009.
