Diverse Applicants Invited to Campus Job Fair

UC Davis employs more than 28,000 people, and at any given time the university might be looking to fill hundreds of vacancies.

The campus is inviting those who are interested in finding out what jobs are available, how to apply and perhaps even getting interviewed, to attend the university's Diversity Job Fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the ARC Pavilion on La Rue Road in Davis. The event, co-sponsored by the university and the UC Davis Health System, is open to the public and the news media is invited to cover it.

"The goal is to reach a broader pool of diverse applicants to market UC Davis and UC Davis Health System, not only as an academic, medical, research teaching institution, but also as a progressive and model employer," said Irene Day, employment and outreach services manager.

Job fair organizers said representatives from various campus and health system departments will be on hand to recruit for clerical, health-medical, fire-police, scientific, technical and management-related positions. Jobs range from entry-level to mid-level professional.

Job hunters who attend the fair are being encouraged to bring along multiple copies of their resumes and other application materials.

During the fair, organizers said, career counselors and staff will conduct workshops on interviewing and resume preparation techniques, and offer other guidance regarding the UC Davis application process. For some jobs, people will have the opportunity to sit down for preliminary interviews at the fair. For other jobs, people can go through informational interviews.

Admission and parking are free. No advance registration is required.
