Students make wine the old-fashioned way in celebration Oct. 8 of the 125th anniversary of the university's program in viticulture and enology, established in 1880. The UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology was officially founded in 1935, following the repeal of Prohibition. Today, the campus has the world's largest teaching and research staff dedicated to grapes and wine.
