Sept. 16, Friday -- Members of the UC Davis community will gather at the Davis and Sacramento campuses to observe the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina, proclaimed by President George W. Bush. In Sacramento, the gathering is set for 11 a.m. in the courtyard of the UC Davis Medical Center's Patient Support Services Building, 4150 V St. A noon event is scheduled at the Memorial Union flagpole on the Davis campus. Brief remarks and a collective moment of silence will be held for those whose lives have been lost or dramatically altered by the hurricane. A more formal interfaith gathering is also planned for Friday, Sept. 30, shortly after the fall quarter begins and the campus community is present in greater numbers.
