Bush Treasury Insider to Discuss Financial Crisis

Oct. 15, Thursday -- Phillip L. Swagel, a top aide to former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, will present a paper on the nation’s near financial meltdown, “The Financial Crisis: An Inside View,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Cabernet Room of the Silo on the UC Davis campus.

Swagel, a visiting professor of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, was assistant secretary for economic policy at the Treasury Department from December 2006 to this January. In that position, he advised Paulson on all aspects of economic policy, including macroeconomic developments and the development and analysis of the Bush administration’s economic initiatives.
