BUGGING OUT...

Briggs Hall looked like a scene out of "Star Wars" Dec. 4 as students donned scientifically-correct insect masks for a cross-disciplinary project in Professor Diane Ullman's Entomology I class: Art, Science and the World. Working in teams, students made masks and garments based on cultural themes like "insects in religion" or "insects in entertainment." Wearing their creations, they then offered informative and often humorous talks and skits on those themes, at right. Design professor Victoria Rivers and design TA Fauna Taylor helped consult on how to use textiles to mimmick nature's handiwork. Pictured on Dateline's home page, Diane Ullman talks with Vanessa Williamson about her Bogong moth mask.
