IN BRIEF: Vanpools, discounts, Picnic Day

Planning continues for Solano vanpools

Transportation and Parking Services, or TAPS, has put out another call for Davis campus employees who may be interested in vanpooling from Solano County.

One of the vanpools would originate in Vacaville, for people with work hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. People interested in joining this vanpool or learning more are invited to a meeting from noon to 1 p.m. May 28 in Conference Room B in the TAPS Building just north of the west entry garage off Hutchison Drive.

The other vanpool would originate in Fairfield, for people with work hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The approximate cost for this vanpool, including gas (estimated at $2.40 per gallon) and parking is $113 a month for the first year and $125 a month after that.

Staff discounts offered at UC Davis Extension

UC Davis Extension is reminding faculty and staff of discounts on extension and open campus courses.

Enrollment is now open for UC Davis Extension’s summer session, which begins June 15. The session comprises more than 200 courses ranging from project management to wine tasting.

Open campus offerings comprise nearly all of the university’s regular courses.

All career staff and academics are eligible for a 20 percent discount (up to $200 per course) on open campus courses and most UC Davis Extension courses and programs.

For UC Davis Extension offerings only, the discount climbs to 50 percent if you enroll three or fewer working days before a course or program’s starting date. This discount is offered on a space available basis, and does not apply to a number of programs.
