Welcome, Aggies — let the 2012 year begin!

Excitement is in the air this new school year as students connect with friends and immerse themselves in new horizons. In the first week, students have several entertaining events to enjoy while preparing for academic challenges ahead.

Classes begin on Thursday, Sept. 27; meanwhile here are a few Fall Welcome Week highlights:

Through Oct. 6: Complete the Fall Welcome Week Scavenger Hunt with up to three team members to win prizes by downloading the app

Tuesday, Sept. 25: Attend the Campus Resource Fair and BBQ on Hutchison Field from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 27: Check out the Transfer, Reentry and Veterans Fall Welcome in the Activities and Recreation Center from 4 to 6 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 28: The BUZZ, the largest annual welcome event, begins at 6 p.m. on The Quad and promises some of the best fun yet. Have you heard about the burrito eating contest and the mechanical bull?

Saturday, Sept. 29: Put on a suit and go to the UC Davis Pool Party at Recreation Pool from 1 to 3 p.m., sponsored by the Cal Aggie Student Alumni Association.

Saturday, Sept. 29: And, of course, UC Davis Athletics are in full swing. The Aggies host Weber State University at 6 p.m. in Aggie Stadium. Find out more about that game and others on the UC Davis Aggies athletics site.

And, finally, express your Aggie Pride by going to Facebook and participating in the UC Davis Traditions Program.

Become a fan — or a member — of the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh, which claims it is “one of the proudest, most spirited, and most loved organizations on the UC Davis campus.” Gregory Urquiaga/UC Davis photo
