U.S. News ranks UC Davis as nation’s No. 8 public university
UC Davis’ No. 8 ranking by U.S. News & World Report in its latest survey of national public universities is triggering Aggie Pride in a big way.
“That’s one notch up from the No. 9 spot last year — and we owe this achievement to our wonderful faculty, students, staff and supporters,” says Chancellor Linda Katehi in her blog.
The new ranking is a hit among UC Davis Facebook followers. The news has been “liked” nearly 3,000 times and had more than 20,000 unique views by the morning of Friday, Sept. 14. And many proud Aggies are sharing the news with friends.
UC Davis and UC San Diego share eighth place among large public universities, trailing only UC Berkeley and UCLA among University of California campuses.
Rankings for UC Davis are going up in other areas. In its September/October issue, Sierra magazine ranked the campus as the nation’s “Coolest School,” honoring its groundbreaking efforts in sustainability and energy conservation. For icing on the cake, Aggie food lovers can brag that we’re No. 18 on The Daily Meal’s 52 Best Colleges for Food in America.
